The women's fashion of the 1920s was very revealing, edgy, and forward. Perhaps the most memorable trend was the flapper look. Many women chose to dress like flappers because their outfits were more practical in everyday life. Along with the Flapper Look, many younger women started wearing sportswear. Wearing sportswear contributed to the masculine look that was becoming more prevalent among women.

The common outfit of the day for women to wear was a chemise dress and a fitting cloche hat. A cloche hat is a tight hat in the shape of a bell. In order to fit their hair into these hats, women "bobbed" or cut their hair short. The dresses women were wearing were becoming more fitted and the hemlines were becoming shorter and shorter to where the hemline was around the knee. Also, these dresses had low waists and had a fullness at the hemline, which allowed women to dance the Charleston. Along with this everyday outfit, women had afternoon or "tea gowns." These gowns were less fitting than evening dresses, they had long and elegant sleeves, and they were decorated with sashes, bows, and artificial flowers along the waist. The evening dresses they wore were longer than their afternoon gowns, were made out of velvet or satin, and were embroidered with beads, rhinestones, and fringe.

In 1925, the "Shift" dress started to become popular. The "Shift" dress was a dress that had no waistline. Also towards the end of the decade, straight bodice and collar dresses were worn by many women. With these dresses, tucks towards the bottom of the bodices were the trendy thing to do, as well as wearing knife pleated skirts that had a hem of one inch under the knee.
